"After the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a voice, a soft whisper." (I Kings 19:12 CSB)

When unusual things happen, like we are experiencing during the Coronavirus pandemic currently in progress, I always wonder what God is up to.

As the Prophet Elijah the Tishbite learned, God doesn't always appear in a whirlwind. Sometimes he speaks in a still small voice. He's always communicating.

But that doesn't seem to be the case these days. God's still small voice is missing. This is more in the category of an earthquake or a fire.

What would that message be? God has our best interest at heart. Sometimes it is in the best interest of a person to allow something unusual or monumental to happen to slow them down and turn them around. Being shut down makes us think. It makes us reconnect with the important. We get in touch with ourselves, our loved ones, and, if we are truly blessed, God.

Perhaps something wonderful is being accomplished in this time of shutdown and shelter in place.

What is God saying to you?
